1. What guidance does provide? is a comprehensive Leisure & Entertainment Guide for major cities in India. Currently, it features the city of Agra, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Chennai, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi NCR, Pune and Thiruvananthapuram. Visitors can search for cities’ restaurants, hotels, nightlife, attractions, events & happenings, shopping outlets, beauty and fitness centers, recreational outlets and more.

2. Any significant feature of people should be aware of? offers various utilities to its users. A few that we would like to mention are –

The ATM Locator – This utility enables users to search for ATMs spread over numerous areas in every city. The user simply needs to select the preferred area and the name of the Bank. Just one click and will provide the user with the desired information.

The Branch Locator – Very often users wish to explore the areas where the shopping outlet, restaurant, café and more are located. This exploration for branches is now made easy by – the user only needs to select the desired outlet.

The Mall Explorer – All the services and outlets within malls, including restaurants, cafés, food courts, pubs/bars, shopping outlets, utility stores, multiplexes and more, can be found at Exploring a mall was never so easy. The user simply needs to select the desired city and the mall he or she wishes to gather information about.

Besides these, also offers visitors to use our community portal and connect with others. They can review places and get benefited from comments posted by others. They can mark places they’ve visited, make their wish list and of course bookmark links. Another feature of great utility to users is ‘Send SMS’ – using which one can send the contact details of any selected listing as SMS to a mobile address. Nothing is amiss with

3. Are there other competitors in the market providing similar services? If yes, who are your major competitors and what makes your service unique?

Yes, there are others in the industry providing similar services, but while most are keyword search based, we have aimed at powerful search using Filters. This enables visitors/users to search for exactly what’s on their mind. An example is in case of restaurant; you can choose Restaurant Style, Type of Cuisine, Facilities/Features of Restaurants, Avg. price for two and Area of course.

Also, TheCityGuide.In has a pool of customized and rich content. A visitor who really wants to search a city, just has to log on and he’ll/she’ll find everything right here.

4. How well was your startup received by the community? What kind of internet traffic does it see?

We are humbled by the initial response which has helped us to better gauge the needs of the customers. Alongside, we are constantly working at equipping the user with better facilities and more focused search. These will definitely ensure in keeping up the upward trend that has begun with.

5. How many cities of India does cover?

Currently covers 12 cities, namely Agra, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Chennai, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi NCR, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram. However, we plan to expand to at least 30 cities across India.

6. Could you tell us more about yourself, your position & other key players, if any?

TheCityGuide is a product of IT Laddu Technology Private Limited, which specializes in web and software development solutions catering to the Indian market, with over 7 years of offshore development and consultancy experience.

Various Dedicated resources namely Design/Development, Data Collection, Event management, Content & Web Marketing Teams are consistently engaged in making the perfect Log On.

7. How large is the team behind your start-up?

Our team is 30 people strong.

8. How is your startup being funded so far? Did you receive any other external funding? If not, do you plan on seeking external funding?

So far, the project has been self-funded. But we do plan on gradually seeking alliance with external agencies for the same.

9. Any initial hurdles you had to come across while executing your business idea?

Setting up the process for data collection was a task that required more effort than we anticipated. But it was a good experience and we’re happy that it’s working out smoothly now.

10. In your opinion, what is the most effective way to market a business?

It chiefly depends on the kind of business and the target audience. If one understands the needs of the target audience and their outlook, then half the hurdles have already been crossed.

11. Your word on the increasing number of startups in India? Do you see any saturation level in this market?

It is good to see an increase in the number of startups in India. People are now more open at taking chances with their ideas and working towards making it successful. There is also a better understanding of the customer needs now and areas that remained untapped  for a  long time are also being explored.

I see no saturation level in this market in the coming future.
