I've come across an interesting post made by Anthony Hsiao of Entrip , an innovative travel utility startup based out of UK and India.
In that post Anthony poses a question on the quality of talent developed by the education system in India and how startups here cope with the challenge finding the talent.
How do you guys judge the situation with regards to 'Talent made in India' (with regards to web2.0, etc, that is) and finding people? I've got some friends at MIT here, and from what I hear, the education system is not really encouraging problem solving or creative extra curricular activities (such as Web2.0 related 'stuff'). I studied at Imperial College London, and there, nearly everybody did things alongside of university. Many were very active in student clubs or organisations, others sold software or ran their own sites. Talent, creative, driven and capable talent, was abundant.
What do you guys feel about this here in Pune, or India in general? Where to find those people that go beyond callcenters and IT/Business process outsourcing operators?
