In the spirit of upcoming holiday season, we're giving away 3 brand new hardcover copies of "The Art of the Start: The Time-Tested, Battle-Hardened Guide for Anyone Starting Anything"
book, authored and autographed by the Golden Guy Kawasaki.
As founder and CEO of Garage Technology Ventures, the "Golden" Guy has field-tested his ideas with dozens of newly hatched companies and in "The Art of the Start", he takes you through every phase of creating a business, from the very basics of raising money and designing a business model through the many stages that will eventually lead your company to doing the right thing and giving back to society.
There could have been nothing more appropriate than his widely read book as a giveaway for this contest.
The Contest#1:
Write an entry on your blog/website to raise awareness about entrepreneurship/startups amongst Indians. You could pick your own theme -- for example, details about business startup process or a theme covering challenges in becoming an entrepreneur and how to overcome them or ideas, motivation, marketing etc. The end goal should be that whatever you write should result in an increased awareness about successfully establishing startups in India.
The Simple Rules:
1. Once you are done with the write-up, please add a hyperlink to http://www.startups.in to it (yes, we also want to increase the awareness of our site :-) ) & post your name and URL of your blog entry in the comments section below in the format specified at the end of this post.
2. The contest would close on 26th Jan '07 at 11:59 P.M IST and any entries submitted in the comments section after that will not be considered.
3. After the contest ends a panel of judges (yet to be announced) will read all the entries and select two winning entries.
The Contest#2:
Spread the word about the contest#1 (and even #2) so as to encourage more talented people to come forward and share their expert insights and knowledge. Our ultimate goal is to increase awareness about entrepreneurship and startups amongst Indian population.
The Super Easy Rules:
1. Write about these contests on your blog/website add a hyperlink to http://www.startups.in to it (yes, we also want to increase the awareness of our site :-) ) & post your name and URL of your blog entry in the comments section below in the format specified at the end of this post.
2. The contest would close on 26th Jan '07 at 11:59 P.M and any entries submitted in the comments section after that will not be considered.
3. At the end of the contest we'll compile a list of contest#2 entries in the order that they were submitted which will be password protected and posted on a third party site before the winner is selected & announced. We'll then have a special guest pick a random number.
4. The owner of the blog entry corresponding to the number will be declared the winner.
Other Rules & Restrictions:
1. No restriction on number of submissions for contest#1. The same user can submit more than one entry.
2. Only one entry/user for contest#2.
3. Users participating in contest#1 can also participate in contest#2.
4. Yes, there is a probability that a single user can win all the 3 books, if that user happens to be extremely lucky. :-)
5. No legal liabilities are assumed here. The decision of our panel of external judges would also be our final decision.
6. We reserve the right to feature the winning entry on our site and make you famous ;-).

By the way did we say that the books will be shipped to the winners anywhere in the world at our expense. It's absolutely free for you as we said earlier. You'd not have to pay for anything.
